Dear Scratchers,
It was great to be back in festival mode again... this time we swopped the mud of Dorset for the 'potential' mud of Hertfordshire! A local festival for a change, The coolest boutique festival around 'Standon Calling' ... and what a great one it looks to be, spaceships, the Tardis, a crashed Delorian car, 3 themed stages and loos made of wheelie bins!
Following literally months of emailing, as you know from previous blogs, despite the bill being finalised months before, Tina managed to get us invited to play the opening night party!... Thanks to everyone for their hospitality, especially Alex Trenchard, Emma, Francis and all the crew who 'buggied' our great back and forth from the artists car park to the stage!...
It was a memorable night for The Scratch that saw 9 songs, (topped off riotously by Dear Maniac) played to a hungry festival audience (thanks for the burgers by the way... am still burping now!)... with our chances of making the main stage next year enhanced greatly. Finally, biggest thanks to Tina (wrong way Rowen!) and Sarah Vince who took some great shots of the band prior to the performance...
what a great way to warm up for the horn tonight! See you all there
xx

Great new review of You want the world from tastyfanzine!
The Scratch – You Want the World (Ponyland)
There’s something refreshingly uninhibited about The Scratch. Their tracks are quite minimal but all in completely different ways. ‘You Want the World’ is old school and punky, a little like the Undertones (‘Teenage Kicks’ is even referenced in second track, ‘Independent Unrepentent’). Then they throw in a proggy track like ‘Teen Idol (for 300 million)’ – bafflingly obscure and brilliant leftfield.

STANDON CALLING - Party on, tomorrow night!
Dear Scratchers,
After no little effort campaigning by our friends... we've finally managed to land a slot at this year Standon Calling opening party... details are a bit sketchy at the moment, but basically tomorrow night we are due on stage as one of 6 bands who are opening the festival with a 35 minute set. Approx stage time is 8.00pm, so if you're going we'll see you there!!! Big thanks to Steve Teague for his persitence, Alex for finally taking the call, Chris and Joe for pointing us in the right direction! and of course Tina who finally clinched the deal! It's gonna be the perfect warm up for Friday's 3rd night at the Horn!
See you all there!

June 5th brought back to life in glorious technicolour!!!
Dear Scratchers,
Massive thanks to Duncan Birnie and Matt Hains, whose high expertise on the video camera/sound and graphical technologies, have managed to capture a 30 minute 'fly on the wall' documentary of our momentous Clint Boon night...
The Clint Boon intro is worth the entrance fee alone!
http://www.vimeo.com/groups/tapeheadfilms/videos/5760524
The DVD features, soundcheck, 5 songs (Numbers, Whatever happened to Friday Night, Girls' World, Dear Maniac and Gas Taps), Clint Boon djing and 7 'F' words from Andy during his excited intro's to Numbers, Dear Maniac and Gas Taps... so if you're watching with yer gran, make sure you take her for a wee, so as to avoid any uneasiness or dilution of your viewing pleasure during these parts of the film!
See you Friday for some more of the same!

Cobden Club Showcase 17th July!!!
Dear Scratchers,
Just to let you know, Smoky Carrot promotions are putting on a showcase gig on Friday 17th July at a venue near Westbourne Park tube in West London - The Cobden club is by all accounts a great venue...
http://www.cobdenclub.co.uk/index.html
I know it's going to be a busy few weeks, but if you're about it'd be great to see you for a rare London show (this year!)
... Of course if you can't make it, your disappointment will be abated by the fact that our 3rd Horn residency takes place on Friday 31st July...
Gawd Bless ya

Clinterview on our myspace player... www.myspace.com/thescratch
Dear Scratchers,
We've just loaded an exciting clip of Clint Boon talking to Hugh Davenport for CRMK radio about us onto our myspace player! It was recorded just before we took to the stage on 5th June. Many thanks to Clint and Hugh for their time. We think you'll agree, that despite it being 2 years since we first met at the M.E.N. Mr.Boon is still a big fan of the band!
You can catch Hugh's Electic Plectrum show every Thursday at www.crmk.co.uk it's well worth a listen!
